Jeff Goldblum made the most of his time in focus during the Super Bowl, waving and dancing when the cameras panned him on the Jumbotron. The actor's enthusiastic reaction has gone viral on social media, with many comparing His upbeat answer to Leonardo DiCaprio's gloomiest.
Last night, Goldblum explained his big moment Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I didn't know it was going to fall on me, apparently,” the actor told host Jimmy Kimmel. “And I was excited to be there. I was eating it.”
“I think you got the biggest ovation outside of the players on the field of anybody in the entire game,” Kimmel responded. “I really do. Just for comparison I would like to show you what happened when I was in the video. They didn't even realize I was there.”
Goldblum added why he got such a big reaction: “I was happy to be there. You know I'm an NFL fan. I'm a Steelers fan. But this year I've spent a lot of time working in Europe as well, so I've missed every game. So I was really hungry to see every single shot. And I loved seeing this stadium for the first time. It's a very, sort of, manageable size. I imagined it would be the fall of Rome, something very big… I had a great, great time. So I was glad to be among the people and see them all.”
Goldblum also discussed his new animated film, They shot the pianist, about the disappearance and presumed murder of Brazilian pianist Francisco Tenório Jr. in 1976. In the film, the actor voices a fictional New York journalist named Jeff Harris, who investigates the musician. The film opens in theaters in Los Angeles and New York on February 23.
