Noise-rock legends Jesus Lizard have announced that their first new album together in 26 years will be released in September.
Shelf, due out September 13 via Ipecac Records, finds the band's classic lineup of singer David Yow, guitarist Duane Denison, drummer Mac McNeilly and bassist David Wm. The Sims reunite in the studio for the first time since their last LP in 1998 Blue.
After their initial breakup in 1999, Jesus Lizard has staged a few reunion tours over the past quarter century, but it wasn't until recently that the band decided to reunite. “We literally just made the record because we thought it would be fun to make the record,” Sims said in a statement.
In front of ShelfFollowing its release, Jesus Lizard shared the album's first single and opening track, “Hide & Seek”. Yow said in a statement that the song is “a lively ode to a witch who can't behave and has almost as many hooks as a Mike Tyson fight.”
