When you find out the original came out 10 years ago, you'll feel very, very old.
“Gas Pedal,” a reimagined version of Sage the Gemini’s 2014 hit of the same name from the unlikely trio of John Summit, Subtronics and Tape B, is out now. Since debuting the collaboration together at Summit’s “Experts Only” performance during this year’s Miami Music Week, it’s become a staple on the festival circuit.
Summit fans will feel right at home in the first half of the song, where Sage the Gemini’s catchy lyrics slide across a familiar house beat. From there, the Subtronics and Tape B influence kicks in with deep bass and nasty growls that will have fans screaming into their pashminas when they hear it live.
While it's not too surprising that Tape B and Subtronics are joining forces, casual fans may find Summit strange. However, despite having achieved headliner status in the world of house music, he is an outspoken proponent of dubstep and bass music, playing alongside Subtronics at events such as EDC Las Vegas and Lost Lands. He has also worked with drum & bass legend Sub Focus, with whom he released “Go Back.”
