Julia Holter has shared a new song. “Laughter is in the eyes” is a holdover from the sessions for Holter's 2024 LP, Something in the room movingand takes its title from a verse on that album's “Spinning”. Listen to the new track below.
Holter did “The Laugh Is in the Eyes” with percussionist Elizabeth Goodfellow. frantic bassist Devra Hoff; clarinetist Chris Speed; Tashi Wada synthesizer player? co-producer and engineer Kenny Gilmore. and mastering engineer Heba Kadry. “Laughter is in the eyes” came out of the Something in the room moving writing sessions and shares this album's dedication to transformation and bodily sensations,” said Holter. “There is a relaxed restlessness, a rhythmic 5ness along with a 4ness, a circle and a square. As in the song “Spinning,” a surprise awakening awaits in the state of “night”—from stasis to the waiting of flowers, flutes, sensation.”
