Ye FKA Kanye West was speaking on social media over the weekend when he declared that he has influenced every aspect of music for the past 20 years. Big Boy TV. While many fans either agreed or disagreed with the sentiment, some of his Hip-Hop peers have weighed in and have their own thoughts.
Speaking about his impact on the music game over the past two decades, Ye wasn't shy about giving himself some credit for the work he put in saying, “I invented every style of music in the last 20 years, I created the genre. I created the Weeknd genre. Trav, Drake, everyone. I'm gonna go ahead and say with all my love, Future and Thug too because the album autotune, 808s. Everyone thinks of Trav, the Weeknd, and Drake, but no one also thinks of Future and Thug. The autotune album. Now everybody, they added whatever they had to it. But here is a new species. It's called making your own money. This music is called, take out this middle man.'
With many fans taking to social media and giving examples of artists he inspired or artists who carved their lane, Boosie Badazz took to his IG page to hit back at Kanye's claims and stated, “NOT BOOSIE MUSIC. YOU CAN'T RELATE TO ANYTHING I RAP ABOUT YOUR MUSIC. NOBODY IS LISTENING TO KANYE IN THE WORKS, THE GRAVES, NOBODY IS SAYING “MY PEOPLE HAVE NO RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU”.
With little time to spare, Kanye decided to respond to Boosie's point and simply said, “I JUST SAW THAT 2007 WAS MADE THAT 2007…I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING YOU CALL THAT KIND OF.”
This is low-key hilarious but at the same time unnecessary because we don't want to see these men getting pissed off over trivial things like this.
Boosie has yet to respond to Ye's disavowal of Badazz's genre of music, but if he does, you can bet he won't hold his tongue, because BB knows how to talk like that when he's got a bone to pick with someone . Kid Cudi, meanwhile, responded to Kanye's claims, taking to Twitter and posting a screenshot from his own Wikipedia page, which states that Cudi was the inspiration for Ye's. 808s & Heartbreaks.
