Colombia has a new reggaeton anthem helmed by genre giants Karol G, J Balvin, Maluma, Feid, Blessd and Ryan Castro titled “+57” out Thursday (November 7).
Named after the area code in Colombia, the sensual, mid-tempo futuristic perreo finds the Colombian powers that be singing about a girl from Medellín who is all that, fierce, unstoppable and the center of attention – even though she's in a relationship. “They ask her if she has a boyfriend, it depends,” reads part of the lyrics.
Led by Latin Grammy Award winner and Karol's longtime producer Ovy on the Drums, “+57” was co-written by all the artists along with Keityn and newcomer DFZM, who is signed to Keityn's management center, La Creme. It was recorded in a session in Los Angeles after Ovy introduced the song to Karol and eventually gathered her colleagues for the collaboration – none of them knew the song until they met in the recording studio.
“It is a dream that I assure you that neither I, nor my team, nor my family could have imagined. We always saw ourselves really big, but we never imagined it would happen so quickly,” says singer-songwriter DFZM, who originally wrote the track with Keityn before pitching it to Ovy. Bulletin board exclusively. “For me it is very important to represent Valle del Cauca, Buenaventura, these young people with dreams and talent. Representing black people, the culture, it's really cool for me to be a part of history.”
Ovy was the first to tease the track, posting a short video on Instagram where fans can hear Balvin calling out all the collaborators. Meanwhile, Ovy and Karol dance together to reggaetón beats.
A few days later, a group photo in the recording studio was shared by each artist on social media, hinting that something big was going down on November 7th. The title was also revealed in the description.
