In The Howard Stern Show, Hudson covered STP’s “Vaseline” and the ‘Til Tuesday hit “Voices Carry” and sang her original song “Gonna Find Out.” Hudson gave a solid performance of both versions, showcasing a natural rock voice that suited each song well.
In an interview with Rolling StoneHudson said his album will be a long time coming. “People in the industry would say, 'Let's make a record,'” she revealed. “'Let's do it. Let's do that.' And I always felt unprepared. I don't know why that was my response. Something was holding me back and I wasn't reflective enough at the time to really think about it, until I got older and thought, 'Why am I so hesitant about something? What do I love more than anything else?'”
Fujikawa and acclaimed songwriter Linda Perry were among the artists who helped Hudson create the album's songs. Comparing the process to acting, Hudson said, “It's the moments where you get into a scene with someone and everything disappears and you feel so good. He feels completely present. That's the same for me writing music. You are so present in it. [The title track] 'Glorious' was simply the best. “It was better than sex.”
