Katy Perry appeared on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast and talked about why she worked with Dr. Luke on “Woman's World” and her new album, '143.' Keep watching to find out why!
Katy Perry:
Look, I understand that he started a lot of conversations and he was one of the many collaborators that I collaborated with, but the reality is that it comes from me.
Tetris Kelly:
Katy Perry answered the question that many fans have asked her since she released “Woman's World” and looked at who was credited as the song's writer and producer.
Katy Perry:
I know a lot of people were very disappointed and upset that you chose Dr. Luke for this album. Why did you choose to work with him? The truth is that I wrote these songs from my lifelong experience of going through this metamorphosis.
Tetris Kelly:
Most of the criticism Katy received stemmed from her choice to work with Dr. Luke on at least five tracks on her new album, '143,' after Kesha filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the producer in 2014, which he denied and countersued for defamation. They ended up settling out of court in 2023.
Katy Perry:
He was one of the people who helped facilitate that; one of the writers, one of the producers.
Tetris Kelly:
While Katy didn't say why she chose to work with Luke specifically on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, she did end her statement with this:
Katy Perry:
I created it with a bunch of different collaborators. People I've collaborated with in the past, from the “Teenage Dream” era. All that.
