The American Society of Composers, Writers and Publishers (ASCAP) revealed the winners of the 2024 ASCAP Latin Music Awards during an invitation-only ceremony held on Tuesday night (April 2) in Miami.
For the second year in a row, Colombian songwriter Keityn was named songwriter of the year after co-writing hits like Shakira's “Monotónía” featuring Ozuna and “Acróstico,” as well as Karol G's “Amargura” and “Mi Ex Tenía Razón,” to name a few .
Fellow Colombian Feid won ASCAP Latin Songwriter/Artist of the Year, supported by recent singers “Yandel 150” featuring Yandel, “Hey Mor” featuring Ozuna and “Niña Bonita” featuring Sean Paul – all hits No. 1 in Advertising sign Latin Airplay Chart.
The 2024 ASCAP Latin Song of the Year award went to Yng Lvcas for his sultry reggaeton “La Bebé (Remix)” featuring Peso Pluma, co-written by Lvcas and published by Warner Chappell Music. Other winning songwriters this year are Baby Rasta and DJ Playero (“Punto 40”). Becky G (“Chanel”); GALE (“El Merengue”, “Copa Vacía”); Myke Towers (“LALA”, “ULALA”); and Marc Anthony (“La Formula”).
Meanwhile, the publisher of the year for 2024 is Universal Music Publishing Music Group for hits like “El Pañuelo” by Romeo Santos and Rosalía, “Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo” by Feid and “Rumbatón” by Daddy Yankee, for to name a few.
In addition, 18-time Latin Grammy winner Carlos Vives was honored with a special ASCAP Founders Award for his groundbreaking contributions to music and his influences on his fellow music makers.
ASCAP Latin Music Awards winners are “determined by terrestrial and satellite radio data and for scheduled and on-demand audio streams, all provided by Luminate Data LLC in accordance with ASCAP's publicly available rules,” according to a press release.
