Kelly Clarkson has filed a new lawsuit against ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, seeking “any and all commissions, fees, profits, advances, producing fees or other monies” from as far back as 2007.
The singer filed the case on Monday against Brandon and his dad’s entertainment company, Starstruck Entertainment.
In the file, obtained by Rolling Stone, she argued that the company violated state labour rules by acting as unlicensed talent agents who booked business deals.
“Based on the wrongful acts and conduct of Starstruck, all agreements between the parties, should be declared void and unenforceable, no monies should be paid by cross-complainants to Starstruck, and all monies previously paid by cross-complainants to Starstruck should be disgorged from Starstruck, forthwith,” it read.
Kelly and Brandon, who used to be Kelly’s manager, split in 2020 after seven years of marriage.
She recently won a $2.6million (£2.04 million) ruling against Brandon and Starstruck after claiming they procured deals for her, including her role as a judge on The Voice, when her team at Creative Artists Agency should have been the ones to do so. Brandon had to repay the $2.6 million in commissions for that deal.
In response to the new claims, Brandon’s lawyer said, “It is morally, ethically and legally wrong to attempt to get monies back from your ex-husband who not only helped her as her manager but who used those earnings on their children and Kelly and Brandon’s lifestyle during the marriage.”
Brandon is currently appealing the decision in the previous case, with a hearing scheduled for August.
The pair share daughter River, nine, and son Remington, seven.
