Kelly Clarkson takes it back to the 1980s with her latest Kellyoke cover, taking the stage during her weekday show to perform the Bangles' “Walk Like an Egyptian.”
Dressed in a patterned blue and red mini dress, Clarkson effortlessly ran the gamut of notes while backed by her singers and instrumentalists, affectionately referred to as My Band Y'all. “All the kids in the market say/ Walk like an Egyptian,” he sang on the chorus.
“Walk Like an Egyptian” was The Bangles' first chart topper on the Hot 100 and spent four weeks at the summit before being named Bulletin boardTop song of 1987.
It's shaping up to be an exciting end to the year for Clarkson, who is set to return for a second year as host of NBC's annual show Christmas at Rockefeller Center Telecast on December 4th. In addition to hosting, Clarkson is also set to perform some festive hits at the tree lighting ceremony. The three-time Grammy winner will have an array of holiday tunes to choose from for her performance, including holiday classics and originals from her two Christmas albums: 2013's Wrapped in red and 2021 As Christmas approaches… Additional performers for the special will be announced at a later date.
