It's been an incredible 2024 for Kendrick Lamar. Not only did he drop one of the most infectious records in Hip-Hop history with “Not Like Us” (which decimated the popularity of his rival, Drake), but he was also tapped to headline the next Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will undoubtedly the record in question on the world stage.
As if that wasn't bad enough (for Drake anyway), the now-classic diss record went on to garner all sorts of accolades for the Compton rep and helped Kung Fu Kenny clean up at last night's BET Hip Hop Awards. The massive popularity of “Not Like Us” led K. Dot to win trophies in categories such as “Song of the Year”, “Best Hip Hop Video”, “Impact Track” and finally led him to win “Hip Hop Artist” . of the Year.”
Kendrick even took home “Best Guest Verse of the Year” for his bars on Future and Metro Boomin's “Like That,” which essentially started his battle with Drake and J. Cole, who “with grace” bowed out of battle after being released and retired. a diss record of his own.
Unfortunately for fans, the BET Songwriter of the Year winner wasn't ready for the festivities as he was out and about handling his business, but we better believe fans weren't mad as most felt he won it all those trophies after a busy year that saw him and Drake release back-to-back diss records that had the culture on edge before the summer even started. It was amazing.
