Kendrick Lamar has surprise-released a new song on his Instagram page, just days after being announced as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
The unexpected five-minute song was uploaded to social media without a title or subtitle, though it could be called “Watch the Party Die” based on the chorus. Unlike his most recent work, it doesn't appear to be a song that directly disses Drake. Listen to it below.
However, Kendrick appears to be referencing emerging victorious from their dispute as he raps: “I just took that man down, that'll do everybody a favor/ It's love, but tough love, sometimes the result gotta be violence.”
Over the weekend, the NFL announced that Kendrick would headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9. “Rap music remains the most impactful genre to date. And I will be there to remind the world why,” he said in a statement. “They picked the right guy.”
