Kesha unknowingly used a real knife during her Lollapalooza set on Thursday.
The 37-year-old singer-songwriter took to the stage during the first day of the annual music festival in Chicago on Thursday.
Kesha shocked fans when she appeared on the stage covered in fake blood and holding what appeared to be a prop knife.
However, the Praying hitmaker took to X on Friday to reveal the knife was not a prop, but a real butcher’s knife.
“Sooooo apparently the prop knife went missing and they replaced it with a real butcher knife stolen from the kitchen,” she wrote. “And i didn’t know. till now. so watch that again…. (sic)”
Kesha wielded the knife during a performance of her 2010 hit Backstabber.
Fans believe the TiK ToK singer shaded Katy Perry when she performed the song, which features the lyrics, “Katie’s to the left, rippin’ my style.” During the set, Kesha sang the first half of the line and gave a brief disgusted look.
Last month, Kesha appeared to break her silence after it emerged that Katy had made new music with record producer Dr Luke, who Kesha accused of sexual assault and emotional abuse in a decade-long lawsuit. They settled the legal action last year.
Kesha took to X in June shortly after the news broke, writing, “Lol.”
In what appeared to be another swipe at the I Kissed a Girl singer, Kesha wore a white top emblazoned with the word “LOL” during her Lollapalooza set.
