The award-winning sibling actor's latest LP is led by the shaggy rocker single “Mustang,” which cracked the top 5 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay and Alternative Airplay charts.
“Our only rule is that we don't have any songs on the album that we'd be embarrassed if it were a single – so we try to make the album great because we don't know anything about the business side of things or the algorithms or the song will do well,” he says. bandmate Jared Followill; Advertising sign.
“Now,” he continues, “it seems you just need a great 15-second chunk of a song to make it big on TikTok — slow it down, reverberate it, make it huge. But we don't know what works anymore and I don't think anyone does… You just have to play ball a little bit and hope you're with the right people who know what they're doing.”
After working with Markus Dravs on their last two completes, including 2021 When you see yourself, the quartet tapped Kid Harpoon last year to guide the new effort.
The rockers — Caleb (guitar/vocals), Nathan (drums), Jared (bass) and Matthew Followill (guitar) — broke into the mainstream in the late 2000s with “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire,” and the two since 2008. Only At Night; the former song won the Grammy for Record of the Year in 2010, one of three career Grammys.
Along the way, they've collected three NME Awards, two Brit Awards and a Juno, and headlined major festivals around the world including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and Glastonbury, and a Billboard 200 No.1 with Walls 2016, one of the band's four top 10 performances.
KoL hits the road this June for one world tour in support of him We can have fun. Produced by Live Nation North America, the tour will visit 26 cities in the US and Canada, starting on August 14th at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
