Lady Gaga's dynamic Chromatica Ball tour is getting a second life on HBO Maximum streaming service, where a concert film documenting one of the trek's final performances is set to premiere later this month.
As announced on Wednesday (May 8), Gaga Chromatica Ball will debut exclusively on the platform on May 25, giving fans another chance to enjoy the colorful costumes, theatrical choreography and stunning live vocals that the 13-time Grammy winner delivered at every concert two years ago. Directed and produced by Gaga herself, the career-spanning showcase will feature footage of tracks from the Billboard 200 top-selling album of 2020 Chromaticaas well as past hits such as 'Bad Romance', 'Just Dance', 'Poker Face' and 'Shallow'.
“Lady Gaga is a total force,” Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president of HBO Programming, Late Night & Specials, said in a statement. “She is a once-in-a-lifetime artist who never holds back and Gaga Chromatica Ball on full display of her endless list of talents. We are thrilled to be working with her once again for this breathtaking concert.”
According to a release, the project was shot in September 2022 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, one of the superstar's final shows on her Chromatica Ball tour that summer. At the time, fans noticed cameras were set up throughout the venue to capture the night's sold-out performance after which Gaga confirmed to X that a mystery project was in the works.
“52,000 people. Sold Out. 30 cameras on you and one shot,” he tweeted at the time.
Along with the announcement, HBO also shared the project's trailer. The subtle teaser gives fans a taste of the advanced pyrotechnics and cinematography featured in the Dodger Stadium show, as well as snippets of high-energy dance numbers.
“Put your hands up!” Gaga tells the roaring crowd in the clip, midway through her performance of “Stupid Love.”
