It may still be summer, but HOL! makes it feel like Halloween is in full swing after releasing their new single, “VAMPIRE.”
From the start, the song feels like you're walking through a dark castle as chilling laughter samples greet you at its gates. An ominous piano melody trudges along the way just before you fall into the clutches of Count Dracula via the single spoken word “vampire,” which gives way to a ground-shaking, earth-shattering drop.
The interplay of piano and bass continues throughout the song, giving us the feeling of escaping from a dark force and being trapped again without remedy. HOL! makes the arrangement even more disturbing with strategically glitched effects throughout the song, building tension and leaving no doubt about their sinister intentions. Listen to it below.
The nightmarish new single arrives amid a countdown to the hot “Country Riddim” producer's debut album. Brulure. Whether the album's music displays the same sinister character as “VAMPIRE” remains to be seen, but considering its title translates from French as “burn,” it's a safe bet.
Brulure Vampire is scheduled to be released on August 30, 2024. In the meantime, you can find “Vampire” on streaming platforms. here.
