Neednoname and SME Taxfree: “End of September”
When I first heard Houston's Neednoname, I thought it sounded like Diet Veeze. To be fair, I still believe that. But there are far worse things than being a B-version of the man who did Ganger. It helps that he has a keen ear for laid-back rhythms that blend with the rush of his jumbled lines. On “Late September”, the beat feels like you're at a first party where everyone's drinking from styrofoam and Neednoname's bars are zipped up (even if Veeze's would be funnier). I really like “Late September” and it doesn't hurt that there's a slick guest verse from SME Taxfree, the Milwaukee star who's on one hell of a mixtape streak right now. Now that's one rapper that won't make you dream about anyone else.
With artists releasing songs fast and furious, it's hard for the average hip-hop head to keep track of them all — no matter how well-rounded they are. That's why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.
