Subtronics and Wooli have finally released their long-awaited collaboration “Hallelujah,” which now has fans saying the same thing.
The track features an exciting combination of both producers’ signature dubstep styles, with Subtronics’ knack for digitized riffs and trills intertwining with Wooli’s elevated, almost euphoric sound.
The two had been teasing the song's release on social media, posting snippets and building anticipation to fever pitch. In a joint post, they even went as far as to tease the release of the song, a song that will have you singing at the top of your lungs before the bass destroys your speakers.
The start is gentle and soulful vocals set the stage with a brooding, melancholic edge, while a more sinister beat builds underneath. As usual, though, the ethereal feel doesn’t last long. An angel-and-devil-on-your-shoulder dynamic sets in as a guttural pre-drop vocal gives way to a shuddering drop. Subtronics and Wooli refuse to let up on the second drop sequence, where rumbling vocal bass churns beneath frenetic arpeggios.
The two producers are longtime friends and collaborators and joined forces for 2020’s “Melt Ur Brain.” Wooli also served as the main support act for Subtronics on their “Tesseract” tour.
“[Subtronics] “It's been extremely influential in helping my work ethic improve over the past few years,” Wooli said in a post on X“Working together is always a pleasant and easy experience, and I am excited about our B2B collaboration later this year.”
