Virtual Riot, one of modern bass music's most inventive and influential producers, is back with “Believe What You Want,” a riveting new song on Monstercat Uncaged.
True to form, this unique and moody track never has a dull moment. “Believe What You Want” sees Virtual Riot jump between genres and styles with each release. While it sounds like it's a chore to listen to, the producer incorporates the whiplash-inducing switches in a way that feels completely cohesive.
A song that needs to be heard to be explained, “Believe What You Want” switches beautifully between hard-hitting dubstep and hypnotic trap. Attentive listeners can hear Virtual Riot introduce some vocals from a Zero-G package that appears on “Leaving,” a 2013 release by his close collaborator, Skrillex.
“This melody came about as a stream of consciousness, with no repeated sections, each new part made sense coming after the previous one,” he said.
The latest from Virtual Riot is the second single from their long-awaited album, steal fireAvailable October 18th at Monstercat. It follows the release of “Give in to you”, his recent collaborations with Rezz and One True God.
