Louis Tomlinson says Harry Styles' relationship plots are getting 'too personal'

Louis Tomlinson just made it Harry Styles conspiracy theories, which have followed both stars since their days One direction.

On a Monday interview with the Brazilian news media G1 ahead of the Latin American leg of his Faith in the Future world tour, the singer was asked in no uncertain terms about “Larry” — aka the cult of fans who, to this day, are convinced that he and his “As It Was” musician either they dated in the past or are still secretly a couple now.

“What's hard is — I realized this a few years ago — I can't say anything,” he said with a shrug. “There is nothing I can do to dispel the believers in this conspiracy.

“They're so wrapped up in what they think is the truth now that they won't really see the truth for what it is,” Tomlinson continued. “I'd be lying if… it annoys me a bit, but it's just the nature of the job. Sometimes it gets very personal. I have my son, Freddie. He is the most important person in my life. Occasionally, he discovers some things that are really unfair.”

Speculation about Tomlinson, who shares 8-year-old son Freddie Reign with stylist Briana Jungwirth, and his alleged romance with Styles dates back to 2010, when One Direction first formed in The coefficient x. Even after the group broke up in 2015 – after which the two stars and their former bandmates Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne pursued solo careers – fan fiction, fan art and online forums dedicated to 'Larry' conspiracy continued to be strong.

So strong, in fact, that Sam Levinson's Euphoria featured a graphic sex scene starring animated versions of Tomlinson and Styles in a 2019 episode, prompting the “Always You” artist to tweet his disapproval shortly after it aired.

“It's something that exists now — there's nothing I can do about it, nothing I can say about it to stop people from making what they want to make,” Tomlinson added in the new interview. “So be it.”
