I believe this is the 6th proper full length studio album from Newark, New Jersey wordsmith Mach-Hommy. The breakout in 2017 when his second album was released HBO (Haitian Body Odor) Under Griselda Records, he and Tha God Fahim fell out shortly after only to reconcile in late 2020, and then Mach returned to the label the following spring for the best achievement in his discography to date: Pray for Haiti. He then followed it the same winter as Balens Cho and now only a few years after the Triz SagaHaitian-American Emcee Wants to Commemorate Haitian Flag Day by Freeing #RichAxxHaiti the previous day.
After the introduction of “(…)”, the first song “Antonomasia” featuring Roc Marciano begins with the two MCs going perfectly with each other on some G shit over a drumless loop from Sadhugold, while “Politickle ” produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow. he admits he has a monkey on his back and is rather heavy. “Sonje” has a bit more of a laid back vibe, talking about unwrapping you like a bag with a bag out of the cell and leads into “Padon” with Tha God Fahim keeping it dusty instrumental giving Raw cones since everyone wanted rap from him going to hell and back with criminals.
“Empty Spaces” featuring Your Old Droog strips the drums down once again taking out everyone trying to spit as they do, except they tie ribbons at the wrong time and cut them at the perfect end, but then “Sur le pont d “Avignon (Reparation 1)” brings a more jazzy boom, thanks to maestro Williams speaking like a warrior, not a killer. After the break of “Xerox Clat”, “Gorgon Zoe Lan” jumps over a bare sample on the brink to show off a blast just before “The Serpent & the Rainbow” keeps it drumless explaining how it's going to go from here.
Black Thought joins Mach on the piano-boom bap mashup “Copy Cold” which Quelle Chris assured is all right, while the title track features 03 Greedo experiments with hip house and even pop rap thanks to KAYTRANADA detailing the their luxuries. “Lon Lon” ties together some woodwinds, kicks and snares that want to be left alone and talking about Babylon before the “Aux Bon Parfums” interlude.
“Same 24” with Big Cheeko those lovely piano chords reminding us that we've all had the exact time in our lives whether it's days or hours, while “Guggenheim Jeune” drops the drums again warning not to let the boys say that it is winding and that there is more than 1 way to clear the cash. “Holy ____” completes #Rich AhhhHaitian in 1 more drumless cut, speaking of the lord's eulogy, attaching a gospel-inspired outro during his final moments.
Mach is no stranger to releasing music for Haitian Flag Day, having always worn his Haitian roots on his sleeve, but this has to be his strongest offering yet Balens Cho about 2 and a half years ago. I always wanted to represent Haiti and the cultural and spiritual wealth we offered to the world. You still get the drumless production and abstract lyricism he's known for, except along the way he also dabbles in jazz rap, conscious hip hop, experimental hip hop, psychedelic rock, hip house and pop rap
