After a delayed start due to a medical emergency, Madonna's Celebration tour is in full swing and the living legend kicked off her US tour earlier this month. To celebrate the Queen of Pop, we take a look at Madonna's five biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Since reaching the Hot 100 on October 29, 1983 with “Holiday,” Madonna has scored a total of 58 chart hits, including 38 top 10s.
Let's start with “Vogue” at number 5. Its tribute to voguing in the New York City dance scene is as iconic as its glamorous black and white music video directed by David Fincher.
One of Madonna's most controversial hits reaches number 4, “Like a Prayer.” The song premiered in a two-minute Pepsi commercial in February 1989, but in early April, after pressure from conservative protests, Pepsi canceled the advertising campaign and ultimately stopped sponsoring an upcoming Madonna tour. Thirty-four years later, in September of this year, Pepsi released the archived commercial to praise Madonna, who wrote on Instagram: “The commercial was immediately canceled when I refused to change any scene from the video in which she was kissing a saint.” black. or burn crosses.
