Matisse and Sadko are back with “Verve,” a triumphant resurrection of the progressive house sound that once dominated the EDM festival circuit.
The Russian duo have masterfully recaptured the serotonin rush of those euphoric, hands-in-the-air moments, distilling them into a fast-paced instrumental track. It's a sound they've mastered for over a decade, resulting in countless festival anthems released alongside Martin Garrix, Tiësto, John Martin and many more.
“Verve” builds with increasing power, layering intricate keys with pulsating bass. Matisse and Sadko finally uncork a cathartic drop, a surging cascade of synths that wash over you with an almost cleansing intensity.
All said and done, the sublime track is a progressive house masterclass that reminds us why we fell in love with the genre in the first place. When asked if that nostalgic sound is returning to the festival circuit, Matisse and Sadko said they anticipate a resurgence.
“Of course we can't predict the future, but we see that this genre carries an emotion that is difficult to express in any other style of music,” the duo said. EDM.com. “It is a rare combination of joy and sadness at the same time, energy and good humor. We believe that this genre has great prospects and is once again ready to take its place of honor at the most important festivals.”
