The record was inspired by the singer's collaborations with Prince during the 80s

The artwork for the disc features an image of Henry Taylor's painting The Darker the Berry, The Sweeter the Juice, which was unveiled in 2015.
“It's a song that stands out – it's a celebration and you can't help but move,” Staples shared in a statement. “Some songs just cover you and this song is so sassy and fiery. It's fired me up.” The record was written and produced by MNDR, who set the stage for the singer's soulful performance as she offers words of encouragement, singing: “Smiling, shining/Beaming like the sunshine/Rising, climbing/Granding through the hard times/Growing, showing rise like you're a star/Cause no matter where you are today/I hope you know you are/I hope you know you're/Worthy.”
