One of our greatest pioneers returns. MC Lyte announced her first album in 10 years.
As reported by WBLS the Brooklyn, New York native is preparing a comeback. In a recent episode of This is that link on Rock The Bells Radio revealed that he has a project in the works. I got a new disc. I'm working on it right now,” he said. The new single is out, it is [called] “Woman”. The new record is coming.” When asked by Grandmaster Caz for more details, he confirmed the album's timeline. “The album will be released on August 9th and the next single on June 9th.”
The “Paper Thin” MC went on to explain that she was hesitant to start rapping again, but some of her peers encouraged her to pick up the pen and pad. He recalled a conversation he had with LL Cool J saying “but what about you? Stop being afraid, put on some music.” MC Lyte also revealed that Nas' record “Where Are They Now” also inspired her to make a comeback. “And then, of course, Nas, he's calling all the people in the late '80s, early '90s. I slipped into the late 80s, but a lot of my hits came from the 90s. So he says, “Where are you?” Put on some music.”
