Melt-Banana is back. Today, the Japanese noise rock duo have announced their ninth studio album and their first full-length release in 11 years. 3+5due August 23rd via the band's A-Zap Records.
According to the album's biography, written by the BBC's Olli Siebelt, 3+5 “showcases the duo's visionary musical approach and extraordinary skills as performers: Yasuko Onuki's dizzying, hyperactive vocalization and Ichiro Agata's glitchy cyberpunk guitar, delivered at breakneck speed, bathed in aggressive electronic sounds… 3+5 provides a new experience and perhaps inspiration for everyone.”

3+5 will encompass nine new songs. No single has arrived with the announcement, but the band shared a trailer showcasing the album's heart-wrenching energy. Watch it below.

Meanwhile, Melt-Banana is currently on the road on an extensive North American tour, which will run through the end of June and stop by cities like Seattle, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and more. They will continue with a UK tour starting at the end of August. You can get tickets here.
