Memphis Bleek has his sights set on a major collaboration.
Jay-Z's former collaborator dropped two singles this year – he and Just Blaze linked up and released “Durag Bleek” last month, and followed that single up last week with “Bands Up” featuring Kruziano & Dre.
Fans have noticed that Bleek is back in the booth and now they're hoping he can talk Jay-Z into giving him a verse. “@memphisbleek might be the one to bring Hov out for a verse. I know he heard the bands second half,” one X user tweeted.
Bleek then assured the fan that he was trying to get Jigga to do the same, replying: “I'm at his throat so you can trust me.”
The two rappers haven't done a song together since Bleek appeared on Jay-Z Scheme 2 back in 2002. During a run with TMZ in 2023joked why it's been so long since they've worked together.
“He knows I'm better than him,” Bleek said. “Here's why. He knows I'm gonna burn him. He ain't wanna put me on no records with him when I'm smoking his boots. He's like 'Blick? Nah, put Blick away. He's too cool right now. I'm just better than him. That's why he told me to sell liquor.”
In a 2017 interview with Pulse, Bleek talked about something other than music. “I was inside [Jay’s] office and I was telling him that I want to go through music,” he said. “I've been making music all my life. I wanted to do something else. I'm a guy who never had a job in my life, my only job was rapping. I never had a summer youth [job] — never worked any job, ever. [Not] saying this is good so I wanted to try my hand at work. I am part of everything [at D’ussé]. I started this thing, when the first hashtag came out it was on my page.”
Jay's latest movie happened earlier this year where he did a spoken word performance on Jeymes Samuel and D'Angelo's song “I want you for ever” from The Book of Clarence soundtrack.
