The band will begin a US co-headlining tour with Caifanes next week
Café Tacvba is back with new music. On Wednesday, the legendary rock band released “La Bas(e),” the first taste of new Tacvba music in seven years.
The new single, produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, sets the tone for the new era of Café Tacvba and celebrates the group's 35th anniversary. A press release described the piece as “a declaration of unity, freedom, brotherhood and a safe way of life for immigrants by abolishing borders.”
“He dreams of a world where all people look out for each other,” says the release, which has “more surprises” for later this year.
“La Bas(e)” marks the group's first original music drop since its release Jay Baby in 2017. The album included tracks such as “1-2-3”, “Futuro” and “Que No”. Since then, the group – made up of Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel del Real, Joselo Rangel and Enrique Rangel – debuted their sophomore album MTV Unplugged, a hits mixtape and a remix of their standout “Eres” with Sindicato del Ritmo.
The band “Ingrata” is set to join fellow Rock en Español legends Caifanes for a joint US tour starting May 29th in Kennewick, Washington. The trip will see the two teams stop at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the El Paso County Coliseum, Dos Equis Pavillion in Dallas and SummerStage in New York. The band will wrap up their shows in Indiana on June 30.
Rolling rock recently ranked Café Tacvba's About — released in 1994 — as the No. 1 greatest Latin rock album of all time. This iconic record included songs such as “La Ingrata”, “Esa Noche” and “Las Flores”.
