The Texas crooner recently made his Stagecoach debut alongside ACM host Reba McEntire
At the ACM Awards on Thursday, Miranda Lambert performed her newly released single, “Wranglers.” She previously made her debut at the Stagecoach festival, where she also performed with frequent ACM host Reba McEntire, in April.
Lambert's live debut of the track was suitably fiery, as the cowboy-hatted star closed out the slow burn of a track on the ACM stage. Her latest revenge anthem was released earlier this month, her first new single in two years.
Lambert has described “Wranglers” as a song about a woman taking back power. “I think we can all relate to the character in this song because we've all gone through a time in our lives where we needed to find our strength and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us,” she said. he said in a statement when he released the tune. “This provides such a cool, raging take on how something like this unfolds. I think the songwriters nailed it.” The song was written by Evan McKeever, Ryan Carpenter and Audra Mae, the latter of whom sang on the studio recording.
She also compared the tune to her song “Gunpowder & Lead,” saying it shares an affinity with the sentiment of the 2007 single. “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is a pretty strong statement, she said, “and as it is written, you may say, we are not joking.'
Lambert has hinted that she will release her 10th full-length later this year. He even described some of the music he was working on as “fussy” and told people to “get ready”. “We wanted to come up with something that really says something from the start,” he said. “And there's a lot of emotion and rhythm and great playing.”
Other performers at the ACMs include Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll and Chris Stapleton. McEntire, who also played, hosted the trophy for a record 17th time.
