Eric Adams can do nothing right. It cannot properly represent New York's professional baseball teams.
New York City's accused mayor is back on social media for a baseball hat he wore during the Columbus Day parade.
Trying to capitalize on the excitement of a possible Subway World Series with the New York Mets and Yankees in their respective division championship series, Adams proudly wore a fitted hat with both teams' logos while walking down Fifth Avenue.
As the embattled mayor continues to see walls close to him as a federal investigation into campaign corruption intensifies, Adams is looking for any way to curry favor with New Yorkers who continue to tire of his antics. Unfortunately for him, this gesture failed miserably.
Per The New York Times:
“I'm like everyday New Yorkers,” Mr. Adams told reporters Monday, his bowler hat on.
Fabien Levy, the mayor's spokesman, said the hat captured a mayor torn between his personal fanaticism and his political duties.
“Mayor Adams is a die-hard Mets fan and was clear that he was rooting for them to win it all (what can I say, nobody's perfect),” Mr. Levy said in an email. “But as mayor of the world's greatest city, he also wants a subway line that will make millions of New York sports fans happy while bringing hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact to our city.”
A similar hat sold in a New York store sold out online
Well, that's not the case because both Yankees and Mets fans are clowning around with the hat that Mr. Levy says belonged to someone on Adams' staff and is a holdover from the 2000 World Series that featured both the Yankees and the Mets.
A similar hat can be found at Exclusively placeda hat shop in Jamaica, Queens. The hat, which retails for $45, sold out online, so maybe fans were just bummed to see Adams wearing it.
