Morrissey's concert in Dallas took a chaotic turn on Nov. 2 when an unexpected rush of fans forced the singer to abruptly cancel his show.
The incident unfolded at Fair Park Music Hall, where Morrissey was performing “First of the Gang to Die” as an encore to an enthusiastic crowd, when a fan managed to climb on stage to hug him. While the singer initially seemed uninvolved, security intervened to usher the fan away.
Things soon get out of hand as other audience members follow suit and storm the stage. As additional concertgoers tried to join the impromptu meet and greet, security struggled to contain the crowd.
According to plans he secured TMZat least one guard appeared to lose his balance amid the melee, reportedly injuring his leg in the fray. Morrissey was quickly ushered off stage by his band, leaving the audience without further explanation. He has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
It's far from the first time Morrissey has left the stage mid-show. His career is littered with similar departures, often for reasons ranging from vocal issues to environmental concerns and controversy with fans.
In 2009, Morrissey famously left the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival in California due to the smell of burning meat from nearby food vendors. Shaken by what he perceived as the aroma of “burning flesh”, he commented: “I can smell burning flesh and I hope to God it's human”, before abruptly ending his set.
In 2014, he also ended his San Jose show early after several audience members rushed the stage. While Morrissey initially appeared to be enjoying himself, he was forced to leave when some over-eager fans accidentally knocked him to the ground.
That same year, he stopped a concert in Warsaw, Poland after just 25 minutes following an incident with a fan. Although the exact nature of the concussion was unclear, it was enough for Morrissey to leave the stage without returning.
In 2017, he ended a show in Tucson, Arizona, after only six songs, citing vocal problems. The pattern was repeated in 2022 at the Hellenic Theater in Los Angeles, where he left just 30 minutes into the show, leaving his band to inform the audience that the concert was over without explanation.
