Chyno y Nacho have become one of Latin music's most iconic duos, scoring several No. 1 Advertising sign hits, four Billboard Latin Music Awards and a Latin Grammy, while releasing six studio albums.
Now, after a breakup in 2017 and a serious health condition that affected the mobility of one of the members, the duo consisting of Jesus “Chyno” Miranda and Miguel Ignacio “Nacho” Mendoza is back, with a five-date US tour. which is called Eternus. The duo officially kicks off their new era with new single “Tu Nombre,” which they'll perform at the 2024 Heat Latin Music Awards on Thursday (July 11) in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
“We are happy with the opportunities life gives us to start over and appreciate second chances,” says Mendoza Advertising sign. “Today, we feel stronger than ever and feel that there are no challenges we cannot measure ourselves against.”
The long-awaited comeback comes amid Miranda's arduous health recovery.
In 2020, the Venezuelan singer was diagnosed with COVID-19 and as a result suffered peripheral neuropathy, encephalitis and other long-term symptoms of COVID that affected his nervous system. Miranda had to learn to walk again and struggled with depression, among other side health complications.
The “Niña Bonita” singer was taken to Venezuela for his recovery, where almost all of 2022 was introduced to Tía Panchita rehabilitation center. Since entering the rehabilitation center, all of Miranda's loved ones, including Nacho, have lost contact with the artist. Nacho describes not having access to his partner as a mystery, because for many months they were not sure about the state of Miranda's health.
“A lot of people in Venezuela who had the resources got behind the case and made it possible to get him out of the center he was in,” he recalled. “From that point on, we [Chyno y Nacho] they are not separated.”
Nacho admits that Miranda is still recovering — but thanks to music, he's been able to heal and get better, and he's able to go on tour. Chyno y Nacho is set to return with the Eternos tour kicking off September 28th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The duo will also visit Puerto Rico, Houston, New York and Orlando.

What does Chyno y Nacho's return to the Heat Latin Music Awards mean?
My heart wants to take advantage of time — because time goes by so fast. You don't realize how the years go by, how what you do affects the lives of others. Only time tells you, and today we realize that we left a beautiful legacy and touched the hearts of millions of people around the world, and that there are many young people who were inspired by our career and efforts. Thanks to this, they have an example that they can develop their own career and this makes us feel very good.
You guys will be performing your new single at the awards show. What can you share about “Tu Nombre”?
This song is like a warm-up for the comeback. It came out as a soft launch, but we trust our fan base and know that people are always looking for new things from Chyno and Nacho and that new things are starting to be discovered. It has a pretty fresh sound, and it defines a lot of the essence of Chyno and Nacho but in 2024. We feel the energy when we're on stage, we see people's reaction to the song. Seriously, the feedback has been great — and hopefully this performance [at Premios Heat] it serves as a window for people to not only learn about the band and tour, but also to know that we're here to create new content.
Chyno y Nacho made a brief comeback in 2021 with the album Chino & Nacho are back, but then he stopped making music. Why is 2024 the right time to tour and return?
In 2021, just after we released the album, my partner's health complications began to worsen and [music plans] it was something we had to give up. There were people who linked to songs from the album, but really all the attention was on the progression of my partner's illness. We kind of abandoned the music thing and it was like we couldn't do anything because the intention was to come together and show our new works.
I think the issue of the pandemic also crossed our intentions. But hey, God knows what his plans are, and at work we just accepted what the outcome was. These three years were years of personal struggle for everyone. But you know that kings are made in the desert, and after having that resistance and walking through those personal deserts, today we feel stronger than ever — and we feel like there are no challenges we can't measure ourselves against.
It's been a very tough road for Chyno, but I can imagine as his duo partner, it's been tough for you too. How was this whole process for you?
[We see] the opportunity God has given us to recognize and appreciate a friendship that is still valid. We've had our downfalls as friends, our disagreements, but I think the courage of people is not to keep the best attitude all the time, but to recognize how you can get back to the best vibes and tunes and also recognize your blessings.
I believe that these 10 years that we endured as a duo, plus the previous years that we were in other groups, are worth a lot. I've shared more with Chyno than my siblings. Having entered into these conversations, it was just a process of being able to understand how strong our friendship was and how much we should appreciate the gift that God has given us both to be able to have a prosperous career and be able to to gather experiences together that remain unforgettable.
I see this as an opportunity for both of us to see how we can improve everything we have… Each [of us] they had their personal process, but I think his was a lot more difficult, because he went through some situations that I went through — like the divorce, for example — but he also has a health issue. I feel like his power was more felt and the battles he had to fight were stronger. If I have the opportunity of being able to accompany him in these battles, and bear on my shoulder some of these burdens which he has to bear, with all my joy, I have at this moment all the disposition in the world to do so.
When did you realize Chyno was ready to continue his music career and tour?
I think it was casual, because I was one of those friends and family who couldn't find where he was. We didn't know where he was, where they were hiding him. It was difficult. It's a process that today I can tell you, we're together and we're living a new reality, but our fans don't know the whole process of being with him again and being able to say to him, “Look, we're going to keep doing what we really it's going to bring you back — to what music is and what you're really passionate about.”
From that point on, we have been inseparable. Music is the best medicine, because the evolution it has [gone through] has been proven in recent months. Now, he's ready to go on tour, for example. A few years ago he wouldn't even have crossed our minds, based on his condition.
Aside from the Eternos tour, what does the future look like for Chyno y Nacho in terms of new projects?
The new album is a possibility — it's very possible to do it in the future. For now, we are releasing “Tu Nombre” because he still has some ongoing commitments with his record company that he needs to fulfill individually. When we decided to go our separate ways, we approached the new contracts as individuals and he continues to go through that process of being able to deliver what he has as part of his musical debt.
We'll have to see how the licensing thing is — I don't think his record company will be against us continuing to do stuff together. I think it's the best alternative right now for his music career, development and improvement.
