Surrendering to the allure of unexplored frontiers, TheFatRat and Laura Brehm have joined forces to release an exhilarating trance anthem, “Sail Away.”
With increasingly intense synthetic landscapes and dizzying trance, “Sail Away” captures the nervous energy of leaping into the unknown that resides within us all. Buoyed by Brehm's brave lead line, which gives voice to lyrics brimming with wanderlust, TheFatRat's film production proves to be the perfect musical vessel for this poetic tale of being carried by the tides towards new horizons.
Recalling its roots in turn-of-the-century Eurodance music, TheFatRat compared the song's recording process to a “nostalgia trip.” However, as Brehm's lyrics chart new celestial courses, the song sets sail for places (and hearts) unknown.
“The initial idea for 'Sail Away' was the melody. I was in the studio, it was late at night and I wanted to go home,” says TheFatRat. EDM.com. “But I suddenly had the idea for the melody and I just wrote it and instantly loved it. Then I went home and played it on the piano for my wife, and she said, 'Oh, you really have to finish this one.'”
“But I wasn't sure how to produce it, so I tried different production approaches for six months,” he continues. “I had the initial idea in April, and for about six months I tried a future bass approach and a more house approach, and also different structures. And it wasn't until October that I found the right idea that I now use where it's more trance, more of a anthem”.
Due to his propulsive, synth-laden sound and his history of making his music available to creators royalty-free, TheFatRat remains something of an icon in the gaming community. Ergo, your new track can be used for free on digital platforms like YouTube and Twitch.
