This is the 20th EP from Dallas, Texas emcee Nowaah the Flood. He breaks out in the summer of 2018 by releasing his first EP Trill Life Mathematics around the same time as Nas' 11th album NASIR Fully produced by Kanye West, he would release his last 19 EPs along with The Nowaah & the Dewer's self-titled debut album and around 6 regular full-lengths. Standouts for me personally include DirtyDiggs produced Private stockthe Estee Nack collective effort Planted seeds, Alathitosproduced by Stu Bangas With respectthe Giallo Point production Right Over Left & is the sequel, produced by DJ D-Styles Crème de la Crème and finally the Kyo Itachi that is produced Sudan Samurai Scrolls. However, he and Stu Bangas celebrate Thanksgiving by laying out Designs by the Curator.
“On King David” is this hard hitting 86 second intro that talks about being the one to rant and say the lowly shit after others follow his style, while “Don't Get Spooked Now” follows the strange boom boom route warning everyone. not to be afraid. “The Criteria” has a luxuriously raw vibe that likens the EP to 80s dope, while “To the Chest” samples a piano to speak of lyrical doom.
Meanwhile, “Wisdom of the Ages” has Nowaah soulfully blasting all the false prophets in the game these days, just before “The Hellfire” aggressively pays tribute to both 12 O'Clock and Ol' Dirty Bastard. “Breaking Day” acknowledges that he's never gotten an L when working with Stu leading up to “1 Chance” brings the keys back into the equation to talk about still having his special grind. “Keep a Banga on Me” ends with him holding a heater even though he's locked in cell 3.
Painted with biblical references during the holiday season in the inimitable way of Nowaah the Flood, Stu Bangas provides the antidote in drumless beats and quiet lo-fi sounds for non-believers to find solace in the gritty street stories he tells so skillfully Nowaah on behalf of those who are either dead or behind bars serving life sentences and cannot speak their stories as a result the statute of limitations has not yet passed.
