Southern California veteran pop punkers The Offspring have announced details of their upcoming 11th studio album. OVERCHARGING, on Friday morning (June 7) and dropped the LP's first single, the smashing “Make It All Right.” The 10-track record is due for release on October 11 via Concord Records.
In a statement, singer Dexter Holland said that OVERCHARGING Recorded in Maui, Vancouver and at the group's studio in Huntington Beach with legendary producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi). “I feel like this is the best we've ever heard! We've also been rocking headbanking for months! And we can't wait for you to hear it!” he said.
Speaking about the super-poppy single, Holland said it's a great example of the vibe they were going for, “because it talks about the people in our lives who make us feel strong when we're feeling down – our partners in crime who make us feel good.” . And, indeed, on the track he sings, “And you make it all right/ And it'll be fine/ We're like partners in crime/ And you make it all right/ And it'll be fine.”
The album is the group's first without longtime drummer Pete Parada — Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese performs on the single — and Holland said the goal was to make an LP that had “pure energy – from start to finish! That's why we named it OVERCHARGING. From the height of our ambitions to the depths of our struggles, we talk about it all on this record… in a way that celebrates the life we share and where we are now.”
