Swedish rapper/producer Why-D links up with hip-hop promoters Planet Asia and Masta Ace for “Poetical Warfare,” the first single from Why-D's upcoming self-produced sophomore album, The Work of a Dolist.
Hailing from the city of Malmö, Why-D has carved his way into the underground scene over the past two decades through raw instrumentals, powerful lyrics and collaborations with Apathy, Reks, AG (of DITC), Maylay Sparks and more. So it's no surprise that he reconnects with some of the genre's best on “Poetical Warfare,” a lyrical jab-jab-uppercut of a track.
In addition to each emcee showing off their lyrical prowess, they're truly blessed to share the same track with the late DJ Devastate, who passed away in 2018. Why-D actually did the instrumental for “Poetical Warfare” before several years, and contacted his close friend Devastate to give him the cuts shortly before he died. The track was shelved for a while until Why-D decided to honor his late friend and eventually linked up with Planet Asia and Masta Ace because he “felt like they would be a perfect fit for this track.”
His patience certainly paid off as “Poetical Warfare” serves as a fitting precursor to his upcoming album, The Work of a Dolist, which is expected to be released next year. In addition to Planet Asia and Masta Ace, the album features guest appearances from El Da Sensei, Sadat X, Maylay Sparks and other Malmö artists Chukk Rukkuz and Grand P. “Poetical Warfare” is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms courtesy of Why Dolo Records.
