Emcee Pro Dillinger of Haverstraw, NY drops his surprise 7th studio LP. A member of the Umbrella collective as well as 1/2 of The Steiner Brothers, he has released a total of 5 mixtapes along with his last 5 albums and even 7 EPs. Favorites include the Finnish production debut Pray for my bootythe production of Machacha Dirt Don't Hurthis 3rd EP MOSFoulthe Sting vs. Flair collab EP featuring Mickey Diamond & the Steiner Brothers' self-titled debut. Dirty work celebrated its 1-year anniversary earlier this summer, and Umbrella's dirtiest brought Sean Kelly back to executive produce for Logical dirt looks a lot like Forever foulbut it comes out of Do not feed the animal EP recruiting Futurewave for the highly anticipated Dirtwave.
“Still Here” is this soulful opener with Pro talking about everybody trying to rap out here acting weird, except there's a difference between men and mice, while “Summer Smoke” goes the boom route bap organic wanting everything and leaving . “Gun Play” maintains a dusty vibe to talk about being tied up before “Magic” jumping over the most perfectly crafted boom bap production, bending that he should dump his old bitch and not fuck him.
Daniel Son shows up on “No Loyalty” to angrily call out everyone who is disloyal in the streets just before “Target Him” with Blakkito makes it clear that you're not a stinker if you're not unfair to the gang. “Flower” exudes a magical boom bap edge showing his love for Bonnie to his Clyde, while the Steiner Brothers' “Back Home” speaks of rising above kicks, snares and a sample of soul. “Say it” claiming right DirtwaveMasterpiece status and “Power Trippin'” finish it off by discussing the count differently.
I've given Futurewave his props as one of the biggest underground producers in recent memory many times before and as expected, Dirtwave here it is now surpassed Pray for my booty to become my favorite work in the Pro Dillinger discography. The production is just as consistent as the previously mentioned debut if it doesn't reach newer heights, I love that it's only 3 guests and the Haverstraw lyricist himself goes harder than he did on his last 2 offerings.
