Queens of the Stone Age were forced to cancel another run of summer tours on Friday (July 26) due to frontman Josh Homme's unspecified medical condition. After scrapping eight European dates in June when the band announced Homme had to return to the US immediately for “emergency surgery”, the rockers announced the latest string of cancellations in a message to fans.
“Due to his ongoing medical treatment, on doctors' orders Josh Homme remains in their care in the United States,” the statement said. “The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”
The new dates affected include a number of European festivals including: Way out West in Sweden (August 8), Oya festival in Norway (August 9), Syd For Solen in Denmark (August 10), Cabaret Vert in France (August 15 ), Lowlands in the Netherlands (16 August), Pukkelpop in Belgium (18 August) and Vilar de Mouros in Portugal (21 August).
At press time, a QOTSA representative had not returned a call Advertising signhis request for information on Homme's medical condition.
“Queens are broke, we can't play for you,” the group said in a statement last month announcing the cancellation of eight European tour dates. “We apologize for any inconvenience and share your frustration and disappointment.” Prior to this, the band informed fans that they were unable to perform at this year's preview tickets/?lang=en”>AMA Music festival on July 5 in Italy”due to illness.”
The band's End Is Nero tour is scheduled to return to the US in September, with their next scheduled gig booked for the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on the 27th.
