Questlove opined on the ongoing beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar but some fans called his remarks dramatic after the war of words largely ended. The veteran drummer from the band The Roots believed that the battle between the two titans had taken a nasty turn, thereby signaling a death knell for Hip-Hop.
Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, 53, took to social media to issue one of the loudest rants yet to appear against what is one of the biggest Hip-Hop beef battles in the history of the genre.
“No one won the war,” Questlove opened his statement. “It wasn't about skill. This was a mudslinging, takedown-level wrestling match by any means—women and children (and actual events) be damned.”
The statement went on to say, “The same public out for blood will soon be posting as if they weren't part of the problem. Hip hop is really dead.”
The Instagram post with the statement was captioned “Here We Are Now… Entertain us?”, which appears to be aimed at Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
As it stands, K-Dot doesn't seem to want any way of reconciling with Drizzy and said as much on the track “Euphoria” where the Compton lyricist rapped, “Whoever he's with, f*ck you. *ggas, and f*ck the industri too' and once again in 'Not Like Us' with the lines, 'The industri can me hat, f*ck'e all and they mama'.
As far as answers go, Drake's last mission was “The Heart Part 6” and the two have left it at that. The Canadian superstar is facing other issues after a security guard was shot outside his home in a drive-by shooting along with another incident in which a man was arrested for trying to break into the massive mansion.
On X, formerly Twitter, comments from Questlove garnered some strong responses. However, we have reactions from all sides below.
