Radiohead have officially entered YouTube's Billion Views Club as the video for their 1992 classic “Creep” has surpassed one billion views on the platform.
The milestone marks the British rockers' first video to achieve the feat. The clip is simple but effective, featuring the band — consisting of Thom Yorke. Brothers Jonny Greenwood and Colin Greenwood. Ed O'Brien and Philip Selway — perform the anthem about wanting to fit in on stage amid moody, dim lighting. “But I'm a reptile/ I'm weird/ What the hell am I doing here?/ I don't belong here,” Yorke sings on the instantly recognizable chorus.
It was first released in 1992 and was included on Radiohead's debut album Pablo Meli, the song became an underground hit in America when the music director of a San Francisco college radio station found it in a Berkeley record store and added it to his playlist. Since then, 'Creep' has gone straight into the mainstream music scene, with countless artists putting their own spin on the track and covering it, including everyone from Prince, Olivia Rodrigo, Kelly Clarkson and Lizzo, to Jim Carrey , Moby, Weezer and many more.
On the Billboard charts, the song reached the top 10 on the Alternative Airplay tally (No. 2) and the Hot Rock and Alternative Songs chart (No. 6). It peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100.
