Rashida Jonesactress and award-winning filmmaker, penned a moving tribute to her father, the late producer Quincy Jones. Speaking on social media, Rashida Jones remembered Quincy Jones as a protective and loving father, even in the midst of his creative endeavors.
Rashida Jones, 48, posted a photo of herself as an infant in Quincy Jones' arms, saying how late-night music would turn him on, but she never took it back.
From Instagram:
My dad was nocturnal all his adult life. He took “jazz classes” starting in high school and never looked back. When I was little, I used to wake up in the middle of the night to look for him. No doubt he would be at home somewhere composing (old school, with pen and sheet music). He would never send me to bed again. He smiled and carried me in his arms as he continued to work…there was no safer place in the world for me.
Jones continued her tribute with “He was a giant. An icon. A culture change. A genius” before concluding that she was honored to be his child.
Rashida Jones won the Grammy Award for Best Musical in 2019 for the biopic, Quincywhich focused on her father's life.
