Rashida Jones pays tribute to her father, iconic music force Quincy Jones, who died on November 3 at the age of 91.
The 48-year-old Parks and Recreation The actress took to Instagram on Thursday (November 7) to share a photo of herself as an infant, snuggled up against her late father's face. “My dad was nocturnal all his adult life. She took “jazz classes” starting in high school and never looked back,” she began in her heart-warming caption. “When I was little, I used to wake up in the middle of the night to look for him. No doubt he would be at home somewhere composing (old school, with pen and sheet music). He would never send me to bed again. He smiled and carried me in his arms while he continued to work…there was no safer place in the world for me.”
He continued: “He was a giant. An icon. A culture change. A genius. All accurate descriptions of my father but his music (and ALL his work) was a channel for his love. IT WAS LOVE. He made everyone he met feel loved and seen. This is his legacy.”
Rashida concluded her post by writing, “I was lucky enough to experience this love up close. I will miss his hugs and kisses and his unconditional devotion and advice. Dad, it's an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.”
