Last night, Immortal Technique and Rebel Army Soldiers Poison Pen, Chino XL wrapped up their three-date West Coast tour in Central City (Santa Ana OC) at La Santa OC. The three local East Coast lyricists each delivered an epic intimate performance at OC, performing classic songs along with rarities and debut tracks that had never been performed live. This was an epic and intimate once in a lifetime experience.
Immortal Technique, born in Peru and raised in Harlem, New York, rose to prominence in the late 90s and early 00s in New York's underground Hip-Hop scene after participating in covert battles and handing out copies of Revolutionary Vol. 1 on the streets of New York, which were mostly written during his imprisonment. Poison Pen, the best of TEAM HOMI (Team Homicide) from Brooklyn, started out in the battle rap scene in New York. Pen is known not only for his lyricism, but also for engaging and hosting battle cryptographers. Chino XL, originally from Dirty Jerz (New Jersey), was discovered by Rick Rubin at the age of 15. Chino participated in freestyle battles and showcases, where his intricate wordplay and provocative lyrics quickly caught the attention of fellow artists.
