Showtek, who many have come to know as an influential force in the electronic dance music community, is taking a 360° turn towards his hardstyle roots after releasing his new album. 360 blue.
The album consists of 15 tracks, starting with “Dear Hardstyle” featuring Earl St. Clair, which they released late last year as a love letter to the genre they first released music in in 2003. Other collaborators on the new album They include Zany. , DJ Isaac, Sub Zero Project, Steve Aoki, Wildstylez and Radical Redemption, among others.
“After taking a 12-year break from the genre, we have revived it with new experience gained, a new, more mature but still Showtek approach,” the duo said in a statement. “Melodic, anthemic and with a message. This has a lot of energy.”
Showtek's talents are twofold: the Dutch sister duo of Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen have established themselves as EDM mainstays over the past two decades. Popular collaborations like the immensely popular “Booyah” (featuring We Are Loud and Sonny Wilson) only scratch the surface.
Although it is unique in its hard style composition, 360 blue continues Showtek's theme of naming albums after primary colors. Fans saw this pattern emerge with the year 2023. 360 yellow, which had a lot of big room house sound. The couple now plans to launch 360 red later this year.
“After producing a variety of genres for the past 20 years, we felt it was time to group each genre into its own primary color in the '360' project,” they explained. '360' tells and captures our story of being a more complete act, having toured the world multiple times and showcasing our love, passion, dedication and appreciation for all genres in the electronic music space. Being a DJ allows you to be in contact with many different cultures around the world; “It's hard to limit yourself to just one thing or genre.”
“As a human being, you grow, you develop, you broaden your horizon or you simply look at things differently. It's important to transcend that in your music as well. Different music is made for different times and scenarios. Festivals, clubs, venues, sports stadiums, radio, beach, road trips, etc. Our goal is to showcase the wide range of passions for different styles under one umbrella.”
