Hangout Music Festival, the long-running event that took place on the white sand beaches of Alabama's Gulf Shores, is no more. After 13 editions, Hangout will be phased out for a new festival called Sand in My Boots, co-produced by country superstar Morgan Wallen and AEG.
Sand in My Boots will debut May 16-18, 2025, promising a “highly curated multi-genre lineup featuring some of Wallen's closest friends, his favorite artists, those who have inspired him and those he's always wanted to perform with. Wallen will carefully select each artist, activity and experience, driven by his enthusiasm for sharing great music and creating memories with fans, friends, family and colleagues.” Wallen will presumably headline the festival, but other details, including line-up and ticket details, are not yet known.
As for Hangout, it marks the sudden end of one of the country's longest-running music festivals. The event debuted in 2010 with a lineup that included Zac Brown Band, John Legend and Trey Anastasio. Over the years, the festival team grew in popularity, drawing crowds of over 40,000 attendees, while welcoming acts such as Foo Fighters, OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers and Mumford and Sons. The 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to the pandemic, but Hangout held successful performances in both 2022 and 2023.
