TO Saturday night live The docuseries is coming to Peacock in January to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary.
Noble SNL50: Beyond Saturday NightThe four-episode documentary series will feature more than 60 contributors, including alumni of the comedy variety show. dive into SNLWithin the rich history, the first episode “Five Minutes” will offer a detailed look at the show's audition process.
The next episode, “Written By: A Week Inside the SNL Writers' Room,” will capture the writing process from script to screen, and the third episode, “More Cowbell,” will go behind the scenes of the beloved sketch. The final episode, “Season 11: The Strange Year,” will focus on the show's pivotal 11th season.
SNL50 comes from executive producer Morgan Neville, who has directed documentaries such as 20 feet from stardom and Won't you be my neighbor? Directors Robert Alexander, Marshall Curry, Neil Berkeley and Jason Zeldes each directed their own episode.
“I've been obsessed with Saturday night live For as long as I can remember,” Neville said in a statement. “For SNL50I've been lucky enough to collaborate with some of my favorite independent filmmakers to tell deeper stories of SNL. Together, these standalone episodes provide a new perspective on SNL and what makes it work.”
All four episodes will premiere on January 16, 2025 on Peacock.
