Following the arrest of Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, things have been pretty interesting on social media.
After it was confirmed by law enforcement that Luigi Mangione was a suspect and subsequently arrested in connection with the targeted killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Mangione's social media accounts became the focus of attention.
Like most his age, the 26-year-old has been active on social media platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads and more. It didn't take long for social media detectives to find his accounts.
As of this writing, his Facebook and Instagram accounts have been removed, his Goodreads account is private, and his X account is hilariously still active, which should tell you everything about Elon Musk's platform and what a bad feature it is.
Since getting stung (catch for those who aren't hip), Mangione has gained cult status among those who feel he's a “hero” and has even gained 100,000 followers on X.
Hypocrisy is loud on social media
There was even a debate with the right, yes, the same people who supported Kyle Rittenhouse and now recently exonerated Daniel Penny, claiming that the left is celebrating Mangione for allegedly killing Thompson.
A post on X spoke about the hypocrisy going on, saying:Conservatives condemn Luigi Mangione and calling the lefties who supported him crazy, yet made Kyle Rittenhouse a celebrity after he drove into a BLM protest with an AR-15 and killed 2 people…the math doesn't add up.”
Mangione's social media posts have also gone viral, including a post about one of his own fish being sucked into a filter and another for his last journal for the existence of Goodreads The Lorax of Dr. Seuss.
We really do live in some strange times.
We don't know if this man committed the crime, but if he did, we don't see him as John Q either, even though we agree that the United States health care system and insurance companies are a hot mess.
