Selena Gomez and David Henrie attended Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premieres Monday night (October 28), as the duo are expected to reprise their roles as Alex and Justin Russo, respectively, in Disney's upcoming spin-off Wizards of Waverly Place.
“It's the best feeling in the whole world to be able to bring it back for you and all the people who haven't seen it before,” Gomez said. People at the Los Angeles event, adding that her 11-year-old sister Gracie was also in attendance. “Including my sister. I made her see it. I don't think he's into it that much, but I was so genuinely happy to be able to bring back the nostalgia.”
He continued of the original show, which ran from 2007 to 2012, “That gave me everything I have today and I'll never forget that this is where I started.”
According to the series description, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows “a grown-up Justin Russo, who has chosen to live a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin's sister Alex brings Billie (Janice Lee Ann Brown) to his house for help, Justin realizes he must put aside his magical abilities to guide the magician in training while juggling his everyday life responsibilities – and protect the future of the Wizarding World. ”
The show will officially premiere two episodes on Tuesday (October 29) at 8pm ET on Disney Channel. The first eight episodes will be available on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the following day.
