Shannen Doherty shares positive update on cancer treatment

Shannen Doherty shared an update on her ongoing battle with stage four cancer, speaking with her oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi. Let's be clear podcast on Monday and briefly discussing a new cancer injection treatment he underwent, which he described as a “miracle.”

The 52-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 The star was tight-lipped about details about the treatment and did not specify on the podcast what the new infusion treatment was, but described the treatment as a positive development in her long battle with the disease.

“After four treatments, we didn't really see a difference and everyone wanted me to change, and I just said, 'We're going to stick with it and see,'” Doherty said. “After the sixth, seventh treatment, we really saw that it breaks the blood-brain barrier. Do I call that a miracle? Yes. For me, this happens to be a miracle right now. That I rolled the dice and said, 'Let's go on.'”

Doherty has been open about her experience with cancer for years. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and revealed in 2020 that it had returned and reached stage four. Over the summer, Doherty shared a video of her speaking with a health professional before undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from her head. At the end of last year, had revealed that the cancer had spread to her bones.

During Monday's podcast, Doherty said she often looks at an image one of her doctors gave her of her brain. “When I finished the brain surgery and got home, I showed it to as many people as I could. Some were horrified by it, some enjoyed it like I did.”

She and her doctor focused on the importance of finding positivity in both the patient's mental and physical health while fighting the disease.

“Hope is always there. I might die today, I might die in 20 years, I don't know. I might die walking outside my house and a tree falls on me or a bus hits me or whatever. Or I might die of cancer,” Doherty said. “But all I can do is live each day as positively as possible, with as much hope as I can and embrace it and say, 'Wow, I'm going to wake up again today and what am I supposed to do?' I think the positivity you bring into your life helps you with your whole body.”
